Liu Xiaochun, professor and doctoral supervisor of School of Sciences of Sun Yat-Sen University, majored in marine biology. After obtaining his science doctoral degree from the Oceanology Department of Xiamen University,, he had been doing his postdoctoral research at postdoctoral research center of zoology of School of Life Sciences of Sun Yat-Sen University from Oct.1995 to Feb.1998. Thereafter he had been teaching in the university till present. His major research incorporates genesiology, physiology and molecular endocrinology of fish, as well as genetics and thremmatology of fish. From April, 2005 to Mar. 2006, he researched and studied in the Physiology Department of Nippon Medical School and is the professor and doctoral supervisor of School of Life Sciences of Sun Yat-Sen University, the provincial cultivation object of higher education institution “Thousand-Hundred-Ten” Program of Guangdong Province, council member of Chinese Ichthyological Society, member of Aquatic Organism Technology Committee of The China Society of Fisheries, member of the Comparative Physiology Committee of Chinese Association of Physiological Sciences, and the council member of Guangdong Zoological Society now. He used to undertake tasks of national science support plan, tasks of national 863 plan, national natural science fund projects and Guangdong Province science and technology plan, etc, and is the chief scientist of “development and utility of the important functional gene of typical marine organism”. This project concerns the field of marine technology. This technology is a research object of the national “863 plan” of “the 12^th Five-Year Plan”. In recent years, as the first author or corresponding author, he published over 30 academic theses in first class international journals in the field of reproduction and comparative endocrinology, such as Endocrinol, Biol Reprod, J Endocrinol, Mol Cell Endocrinol, Gen Comp Endocrinol, etc. He also contributed to the compilation of 2 treatises and obtained over 10 national patents. As the chief undertaker of the results, he won 2 “First Prize for Progress in Science and Technology of Guangdong Province”, 3 “First Prize for Progress in Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education”, etc.
